For years the honest description of a Billerica summer went something like this: you lived here, you commuted through here, and the weekends belonged to somebody else's town. Concord had the bookshop crawl. Lexington had the farmers market on the green. If you wanted a proper Saturday morning, you drove for it.
That equation is shifting this year. Three separate anchors, none of them coordinated with the others, have landed inside a two mile stretch of central Billerica between June and September. Taken together they turn the summer into something a resident can plan around without ever crossing the town line.
